UCC SU to Hold Information Session to Assist Students with Grant Applications & Finding Accommodation

UCC Students’ Union in conjunction with the Union of Students in Ireland (USI) are to hold 2 Grant & Accommodation Information Sessions on the:

  • 16th August in Cork City Library (6-9 pm)
  • 17th August in Clonakilty Community Hall. (6-9pm)

The information session is aimed at students and the parents of students who are returning to, or starting, college this year.

This event will give students and their families the opportunity to find out everything they need to know about the student grants system in Ireland and how to go about looking for accommodation if they are moving away from home.

Free practical help will also be available to students or parents who may need assistance filling out the relevant application forms.

Grant application forms are now downloadable from www.studentfinance.ie and will be available at the information session.

SU President, Keith O’ Brien, said:

“August can be a very hectic time with leaving cert results, CAO offers etc.  UCC SU in conjunction with the USI are working to try and make the transition into the college year as easy as possible. As a former recipient of the Grant this information session is invaluable to insure that your form is filled out correctly and will not leave students waiting for a grant into the New Year.

Finding accommodation if you are moving away from home or completing the grant application form can often be a daunting task but free practical help is at hand from UCC SU on our website www.uccsu.ie . If you are unsure about the grant application form or if you qualify for a grant, drop into our information session where there will be experienced officers available to answer your queries.”
