Job Vacancy – Deputy President Student Help
Title: Student Help, Deputy President
Grade: Part-time up to 10 hours per week for the period of September 20th to June 30th 2011. Three month probationary period applies.
Based at: Students’ Union Building, 54 College Road
Job description: Student Help will work closely with the Deputy President to provide administrative and organisational support.
Job description:
Student Help works closely with the Deputy President to provide administrative and research support. Student Help assists the Officer to make the best use of his time by dealing with secretarial, administrative and other tasks.
Typical Work Activities:
- The Student help will be key in the organisation of a number of Student Union Campaigns and Events. These will include the organisation of Freshers’ Week, Raise and Give Week, Student Patrol and various Student Union Events and Conferences.
- Dealing with e-mails and correspondence.
- General Office Administration.
- Communicating with students and other Students’ Unions.
- Facilitating other sabbatical officers if necessary.
- Contacting relevant organisations and departments on the Deputy President’s behalf for campaigns and events.
Key skills:
- Organisation.
- Communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Discretion, confidentiality and tact.
- Excellent I.T skills.
- Reliability and dependability.
- Flexibility regarding designation of hours of work. Applicant should have a flexible academic timetable insuring that student help will be able to carry out duties without affecting academic performance and work rate
- Past personal assistance (P.A) and office work an advantage and involvement in working with students is a bonus.
- Sense of humour and common sense are ESSENTIAL.

Title: Student Help, Education Officer
Grade: Part-time up to 10 hours per week for the period of September 20th to June 30th 2011. Three month probationary period applies.

Job description:
Student Help works closely with the Education Officer to provide administrative and research support. Student Help assists the Officer to make the best use of his time by dealing with secretarial, administrative and other tasks.
Typical work activities:
Student Help often acts as the Officer’s first point of contact with people from both inside and outside the Union. Typical work activities include:
- Dealing with e-mails, checking post and dealing with other queries made to the Education officer.
- Devising and maintaining office systems, including filing, etc.
- Carrying out background research and presenting findings as requested.
- Contacting relevant organisations and departments on the Education Officer’s behalf for campaigns and events.
Key skills
- Organisation

- The ability to manage the Education Officer’s pliable relationship with time
- Reliability and dependability
- Initiative
- Research knowledge and ability to compose reports
