Dia Dhaoibh!
My name is Siobhán Power and I am your Irish Officer for 2010/2011. I'm a second year Irish and Religion student. My main role in the Union is to promote the Irish Language around campus. My main objective for this year is to have fun with the language whether that be through a maidin tae (everyone loves tea and a chat) or a bit of speed dating as Gaeilge. In September I hope to have a My First Gaeilge event for International students and those who want to have a bit of fun refreshing all the fun parts of Irish. In November UCC's very own Irish Week-Spraoi Cois na Laoi takes place where loads of fun events are going to be taking place on campus and I will be assisting the lovely cumman Gaelach An Chuallacht in whatever way possible.
After Christmas I hope to do more events for International students. Also there will be lots of preparation for Seachtain na Gaeilge 2011 which promises to be a week filled with craic agus ceol. I sit on Bord na Gaeilge a sub committee of Governing Body. I also sit on Coiste Gnó which is a finance committee. I sit on the SU Executive also. I also plan on helping out An Chuallacht in whatever way that I can! :) I genuinely cannot wait for this year to actually kick off properly and to have fun promoting this lovely language.
